Bringing Our Purpose to Life: Announcing Our Sponsorship of PBS’s Caregiving from OneAmerica
At the heart of our work in insurance distribution lies a simple yet powerful truth: we are in the business of caring. Every policy we help deliver, every financial strategy we help shape and every family we help protect is a reflection of our deep commitment to caregiving — not just in the traditional sense, but in the way we care for our clients’ futures.
That’s why I’m proud to announce our support of the PBS documentary Caregiving — a project that sheds light on the emotional, financial and societal impact of providing care in America. Underwritten with a grant from the OneAmerica Financial Foundation, Caregiving premiers Tuesday, June 24.
This collaboration reflects our shared values and strengthens our role as not only financial professionals, but trusted stewards of peace of mind.

This pivotal film brings to life the very real, often complex experiences of providing and planning for care. It’s a timely and powerful reminder that caregiving is not just a professional topic for many of us. Care is personal, and it’s personal to your business.
I’d like to share a personal story with you, one that underscores why the work we do in the long-term care space is so important.
Recently, my own dad, who’s been in great shape well into his early 80s, caught a respiratory virus that really knocked him down. Not long after, he asked what I thought about him moving into a continuing care retirement community, specifically independent living.
My response came easily: “Dad, it’s better that you make the decision than for me to have to make it for you.”
That moment brought home everything I’ve learned during over 35 years in this industry. I’ve had countless conversations with people who are pragmatic, fearful, confused and also hopeful.
What I’ve learned is this: every one of those conversations matters. And yet, we still face what I call a “conversation problem.” The need for care is growing. We have the products and resources to make a difference. What’s missing far too often is the dialogue between partners, families and generations.
That’s why the Caregiving documentary is so important. It informs and encourages people to talk, to reflect and to prepare. It aligns with our ongoing efforts at OneAmerica Financial® to foster meaningful conversations about care before the need becomes urgent. This documentary will provide you with stories to share, examples to embrace and indeed, a sense of pride that what we do every day matters.
In July, my dad will move into his new apartment. I’ll be there to help him settle in. And I’ll do so knowing that he made a decision that was right for him, on his own terms. This is a reminder of why these stories, and this documentary, matter so much.
And it all started with a conversation.
Talk with people about this film. This documentary will equip you for even greater success with OneAmerica Financial and the families you care for each and every day.
