Med Supp Changes Impact Idaho, Nevada and Illinois

New State Regulations and Medicare Supplement Plan Changes in Idaho  

Idaho

Effective March 1, Idaho will be changing their rating structure on their Medicare supplement plans. Idaho will be moving from an Issue Age rated state to a Community rated state. Idaho has also created a new annual period to allow policyholders to purchase any other Medicare supplement policy on a guaranteed issue basis.

  • Annual enrollment period lasting 63 days, beginning on an individual’s birthday, during which time an individual may replace any Medicare supplement policy with a policy of equal or lesser benefits.
  • Coverage will not be made effective prior to the individual’s birthday or beyond 60 days from the application date.
  • Documentation should be included verifying plan information when submitting applications.
  • Applications can be taken March 1.

Effective March 1, 2022, Omaha Insurance Company (OIC) will no longer offer a High Deductible Plan F, in Idaho. The last day to submit OIC High Deductible Plan F applications is February 28, 2022.

Earlier this year, new Open Enrollment periods went into effect January 1, 2022, in Nevada and Illinois. Please review the latest information for Nevada and Illinois.

Nevada

  • Annual enrollment period lasting 60 days, beginning 1st day of an individual’s birthday month ending 60 days from that date, during which time an individual may replace any Medicare supplement policy with a policy of equal or lesser benefits.
  • Coverage will not be made effective prior to the individual’s birthday or beyond 60 days from the application date.
  • Documentation is required to verify plan information when submitting applications.
  • Eligible policyholders are notified 30 days before the enrollment period.

To align ourselves with the Med supp marketplace, effecitve January 19, 2022, we are paying commission consistent with Guarantee Issue business rates.

Illinois

  • Annual Open Enrollment period lasting 45 days, beginning on an individual’s birthday, during which time a person may replace an Omaha Insurance Company Medicare supplement policy with an Omaha Insurance Company policy equal to or lesser benefits.
  • An individual must be between the ages of 65 through 75 to be eligible.
  • Coverage will not be made effective prior to the individual’s birthday or beyond 60 days from the application date.
  • Documentation is required to verify plan information when submitting applications.
  • The Open Enrollment and Guaranteed Issue Worksheet in the Illinois application has been updated to include this information.
  • This option is not available on closed blocks.
