Protective will Verify Compliance with California Best Interest Training Starting 07/01/2025

Effective January 1, 2025, agents are required to complete new training to sell specified life insurance in California in compliance with state Senate Bill 263. Starting July 1, 2025, Protective will verify compliance with this training. If the training is not completed prior to submitting a drop ticket, the file will be closed and a new ticket must be submitted after the training completion date.

  • How is Protective verifying training?
Protective is verifying training certifications through DTCC data feeds from participating training vendors and training certifications received via email or physical mail. Training certifications can be sent by email to our Licensing & Contracting team at PLBContracting@protective.com.
  • What happens if we do not have your training on file?
At time of new business submission if required training is missing from our records, the case will be marked as NIGO (Not in Good Order). Our Licensing & Contracting team will reach out to confirm training. If confirmation cannot be obtained, the case will be closed.
