Athene Nabs Highest Score for Financial Strength in Peer Review

Athene secured the highest score among a peer group of annuities carriers on a key operational metric, according to new report from Fitch Ratings.

Athene bests seven other carriers for insurer financial strength and outlook, with an A+/stable score. The outlook for each of the other seven carriers examined is also stable, but their financial strength scores are all A or A-, according to an October report from the ratings firm.

The rating firm assigned the companies a score for each of nine key credit attributes underpinning their financial strength rating. These scores — ranging from “aaa” to “c” — factor into the insurers’ financial strength (IFS) credit ratings.
