Happy New Year

Good morning –
First off, I wanted to say Happy New Year and I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday!

As we are now in 2024, Jeff and I wanted to reach out and give you a few updates on our front and some success from 2023.

  1. LexisNexis – For those of you familiar with LexisNexis, know that carriers use that use this type of scoring and placing business can be a big negative as it counts against the client for non-medical activities and cause your Preferred client to go to Standard or below with Assurity. Here at Assurity, we took a long look at this and decided to go away from LexisNexis and only rely on medical data to determine a client for consideration. What does that mean for you and your clients when working with Assurity? Better opportunities to get higher rate classes for your clients, which also means better premiums! So please let me know if you are working with any clients for Term, WL, and UL and would like me to run any illustrations for you, or if you’d like discussion opportunities or scenarios please do not hesitate to reach out and let me know how I can better assist you!
  2. Business Success – We wanted to share with you some information on our overall business for Life and Health last year and where we saw great success with agencies/agents we are working with:
  • Although our Life policy count was down 10% from 2022, our average case size was up 5% from the previous year across the board for Term, WL, UL and SPWL.
  • Term continues to be the top producer, especially Term with ROP followed by our WL product.
  • Our Term 10- and 15-year period product is up 10% because our pricing is one of the tops in the industry right now.
  • On the Health side (Disability and Critical Illness), our policy count is up 18% and our Weighted Annual Premium is up 9.5%.
  • Our short-term DI individual product is the only one in marketplace right now, so sales are continuing to grow here
  • New guaranteed-issue Accident Insurance is a great way to get your clients coverage for all of life’s mishaps!
  1.  Accident Death Insurance Plus (AD&D) – This product continues to be a leader for clients who can’t get traditional insurance: there are no medical exams and no medical questions. It is better to give your client an option for insurance, even though it is accident insurance, than no insurance at all! In this scenario, if you look over your book of business for the past 6 months and look at the clients who were declined for coverage and no options to pivot to, this could be the product you could revisit them with and get a feel for working with Assurity on the easiest product we have available. 
  2. The final piece here is a big THANK YOU! Without your support and knowledge of Assurity’s products, we simply do not exist. So on behalf of Jeff and I and Assurity, thank you for all you do and we look forward to a fantastic 2024!
